Apex Legends already teased Titanfall 2 villain Ash back in Season 4

Four months ago, the Apex Legends developers promised a “pleasant surprise” for Titanfall 2 fans coming in Season 5. As it turns out, however, there may have already been a surprise debut hidden in early Season 4 for eagle-eyed fans.https://imasdk.googleapis.com/js/core/bridge3.392.0_en.html#goog_1011320413Volume 0%

The hype machine surrounding Ash’s potential debut in Respawn’s popular battle royale has already hit top gear, after a new clue in the Broken Ghost quests seemed to point to the evil simulacrum returning to the Outlands in Season 5.

She’s already been in Apex Legends for though, as it turns out, and no we don’t mean as the artifact pieces in the recent hunts. The Titanfall 2 villain actually made her debut in the future world of Apex all the way back in Season 4.

Fittingly enough, her shorter teaser appearance came at the same time Respawn was in the middle of officially unveiling their new killing machine, Revenant. A cinematic trailer released on June 30 dropped the simulacrum assassin right into Apex’s world in a pretty bloody debut.

Revenant wasn’t the only murderous robot to pop up in the teaser, however. As Revenant — who at this stage still believes he’s a man — prepares to hunt down Loba’s parents, he flicks on the newsreels.

Ash actually appeared in the Revenant cinematic reveal trailer back in Apex Legends Season 4.
Respawn Entertainment

Ash actually appeared in the Revenant reveal trailer back in Apex Legends Season 4.

There, 10 seconds into the teaser, Ash makes her appearance. The former Apex Predator lieutenant’s image appears alongside news that Hammond Robotics, who design the robots, is facing “backlash for its controversial work.”

Now, there are a few things to note here. Apex Legends takes place 30 years after the fiery conclusion to Titanfall 2, when [spoilers] Ash was killed by Cooper and BT on Typhon. That means she likely isn’t a figurehead for Hammond Robotics — she’s still buried underground after all… for now.

Instead, it looks like it’s a reused image template from the Titanfall series. In the multiplayer mode, players can equip customizable banners. One is called “Ashes to Ashes,” and depicts Ash directing Blisk’s Apex Predators in battle. It’s the same image that appears on Revenant’s screen in his reveal trailer.

Respawn appear to have re-used the Titanfall 2 player card
Respawn Entertainment

Respawn appear to have re-used the Titanfall 2 player card “Ashes to Ashes” in their Apex Legends teaser.

This title card on the newsreel doesn’t exactly specify it’s Ash. In fact, Respawn could have just grabbed whatever file marked “simulacrum” they could get their hands on to slap into the TV animation, but that’s not how these devs work.

In the build-up to Season 4’s Revenant reveal, they set up an elaborate storyline around Forge as the new Legend. He was then unceremoniously killed off in a cinematic soon after to fans on their toes. There’s also the whole hidden Crypto storyline happening in-game right now.

There’s no reason to think they’d get sloppy just for this one specific thing. If they put the Ash image, it wasn’t by accident. The same reasoning applies to the “Ash” word found marked on the latest Broken Ghost quest reward.

So, does this mean Ash is coming to Apex? Well, it certainly feels like it, though whether she’ll be a playable character or not is another question entirely.

Then there’s what Apex writer Tom Casiello admitted earlier this week. “The end of Season 5 sets up stories for Season 6,” he said. Could that mean Ash plays a bigger role next season following her reconstruction at the end of the Broken Ghost quests?https://platform.twitter.com/embed/index.html?creatorScreenName=Dexerto&dnt=false&embedId=twitter-widget-0&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1279196155893563393&lang=en&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dexerto.com%2Fapex-legends%2Fapex-legends-maybe-already-debuted-titanfall-2-villain-ash-1388767&siteScreenName=Dexerto&theme=light&widgetsVersion=9066bb2%3A1593540614199&width=550px

Unfortunately, only time will tell. For now, Apex fans will just have to keep playing through the hunts each week. The next one, called “Air Support,” should give us a few more clues on the ever-evolving story. The final weeks of the Season 5 hunts may confirm Ash’s possible involvement too.

A useful Apex Legends trick has surfaced which allows players to cancel Lifeline’s Combat Revive passive ability if she attempts to heal a downed enemy.https://imasdk.googleapis.com/js/core/bridge3.392.0_en.html#goog_2049135677Volume 0%00:0001:11

Apex Legends is full of handy tricks to help you get through the chaos that ensues in the Apex Games. After all, one-upping your opponent can be the difference between life and death in most situations.

Whether it be tweaking the Selectfire Hop-Up to store the Havoc’s charge or cutting the reload time in half for weapons, there’s plenty of nifty tips that players can use to their advantage.

Although, Apex’s resident healer also has a few tricks up her sleeve. Players might already know that equipping a Guardian Angel backpack while healing a teammate will instantly heal their allies, but there’s also a nifty way to counter that.

Lifeline in Apex Legends.

After a series of buffs, Lifeline is now a top-tier Legend.

How to cancel Lifeline’s Combat Revive

Now that Lifeline’s D.O.C. drone does all of the hard yards for the Combat Medic, the Support Legend can get into the thick of the fight while her teammate is automatically revived.

Although, Lifeline’s healing drone can be easily countered during the revive animation, after an eagle-eyed player spotted a clever trick.

Essentially, players can just shoot the D.O.C. drone to completely cancel the entire revive, leaving downed opponents completely exposed.https://d-4707749022352273122.ampproject.net/2006112352003/frame.html

While this sounds completely straightforward on the surface, most players wouldn’t think to do this, as they’d be too involved with trying to finish off the kill.

But in situations where the drone is the only part exposed, this can be extremely useful. Not only will it cancel the revive animation, but it will also bring down Lifeline’s shield — leaving the downed foe completely vulnerable to the elements.

Of course, this is an entirely situational play, but is a useful piece of information to have on tap and could prime players to make a high-tier play in the most difficult of circumstances.

Apex Legends player sacrifices themselves to get teammates to safety

An Apex Legends player sacrificed themselves earlier today to get their team to safety by using Wraith’s Dimensional Rift. The player died but their sacrifice allowed their team to win the game.

The player and their teammates were up against the final squad in the last few minutes of a match. They encountered the enemy team who opened fire, so they were forced to use a large wall as cover. The team was safe from the immediate threat, but they soon realized they could be stuck in the storm if the circle closed on the opposite side of the wall.

The team assumed they were out of luck since they couldn’t travel through the storm to safety without dying. The player decided to use Wraith’s portal to attempt to transport their team through the storm and into the final circle. It was a long distance, however, and the player knew they likely wouldn’t survive the trip.

This didn’t bother the player and they decided to sacrifice themselves to save their teammates. They managed to get their portal close enough to the circle but were downed inside the storm and eventually died. The player’s teammates quickly entered the portal ready for a fight.  https://d3ef255243506290f2c57d01bb388f5c.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-37/html/container.htmlReport Advertisement

The player’s teammates engaged in a close firefight with the final enemy team and managed to eliminate them. The team won the match because of the Wraith player’s sacrifice, which made it worth it in the end.

All players agreed it was a noble play and praised the player for putting their teammates first. It ultimately won them the game, which shows how important teamwork is in Apex

Rarest Bloodhound skins in Apex Legends

One of the greatest game hunters across the Outlands, Bloodhound’s true origins are a mystery. One thing that’s known, though, is that they’re excellent in hunting and tracking opponents.

Primis Player Placeholder

Bloodhound’s skillset in Apex Legends is focused on recon. Finding the enemies is made simple with his tactical ability, Eye of the Allfather. This ability allows the player to see their target through structures and smoke screens, enabling the team to launch a strategic ambush.

Their skillset isn’t the only unique thing about Bloodhound. The hunter has a collection of skins available with ranging levels of cosmetic upgrades. These skins can be acquired through the store or during events and crafted through completing specific challenges.

Common skins

Bloodhound’s common skins will apply a color change to the trim of their outfit. While it isn’t a substantial difference, it allows the player to personalize the character by using the color of their choice. You can get access to common skins with only 30 crafting materials.javascript:”<html><body style=’background:transparent’></body></html>”Report Advertisement

Rare skins

Bloodhound’s rare skins will do the opposite of their common skins, offering a change in the design of the main parts of their armor instead of just the trim. The rare skins also offer different colors and unique textures for each color. These can all be acquired for 60 crafting materials.

Epic skins

The epic skins available for Bloodhound will do a combination of what’s aesthetically available in the previous tiers of skins. Epic-tier skins will give Bloodhound a complete color change with five different options to choose from, all of which are worth 400 crafting materials.

One standout Epic skin for Bloodhound is the Master of the Hunt skin. This skin was only available through completing challenges during the Legendary Hunt event. Legendary skins

Here are some of the best and rarest skins available for Bloodhound in Apex today. Legendary skins offer full redesigns of Bloodhound that aren’t available in any of the lower-tier skins.

The Plague Doctor

Bloodhound The Runekeeper – Screengrab via Respawn Entertainment
Bloodhound Great Winter – Screengrab via Respawn Entertainment

One of Bloodhound’s legendary skins, The Plague Doctor, offers players a unique look at the hunter. Bloodhound wears extra armor, as well as a new mask in the style of a plague doctor.

The skin is black, but an alternative version, Raven’s Shadow, changes the color scheme to a brownish-gold look. This variant is one of the rarest skins in the game because it requires players to own The Plague Doctor skin first and has a high crafting cost to acquire. Another variant available of The Plague Doctor is the Runekeeper skin. This looks similar to the other two aside from extra padding in the armor and a two-tone orange color scheme.https://84f9636901d6e28dcc510bd5d13b7672.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-37/html/container.htmlReport Advertisement

Bloodhound Royal Guard – Screengrab via Respawn Entertainment

The Imperial Warrior skin takes Bloodhound’s look back to imperial times, seeing them wear a quiver over their shoulder as well as different armor plating. There are multiple alternative versions of this skin available. The Royal Guard will make the color scheme red and replaces the armor material with something smoother. Great Winter has the armor appear fully white with slightly different textures to the other available variants. The most unique variant, though, has to be the Wandering Warrior. The Wandering Warrior sees the skin become an aqua color. Although that’s not the best for stealthy gameplay, it looks impressive.

The Centurion

Bloodhound The Centurion – Screengrab via Respawn Entertainment

One of Bloodhound’s most standout skins, The Centurion sees a complete remodel of their armor in favor of a Roman soldier look. This is one of the rarest skins in the game due to its limited availability and difficulty to acquire.

Protector of the Patch

Available only during the Fright or Fight event, Protector of the Patch Bloodhound is one of the legend’s most unique looks. The Intimidator

A solid color pallet isn’t always what looks great in skins. But in the case of the Intimidator, that’s exactly what it needed. The skin has a distinct red color scheme all over and reshapes Bloodhound’s armor into something sinister that resembles a mask with devil horns. This skin is sure to stand out and be feared among the opposition.

Wise Warrior

Bloodhound Wise Warrior – Screengrab via Respawn Entertainment

One of the Bloodhound’s most recent skins, Wise Warrior sees the hunter don an owl shape mask as well as cloth armor and a noticeably smaller hat. Aesthetically, the skin is silver with gold trim on the armor and fur trim around Bloodhound’s neck. Released as part of the Bloodhound-themed event, this skin is one of the best-looking cosmetics available for the character.

Young Blood

Bloodhound Young Blood – Screengrab via Respawn Entertainment

Probably the best-looking Bloodhound skin available in the game today, Young Blood Bloodhound has released as part of the character’s recent themed event. The attention to detail that’s gone into this skin is up there with any other cosmetic in the game. Bloodhound’s armor is stripped away, wearing thin cloth armor wrapped in what looks to be feathers instead. On Bloodhound’s head, the hat has been replaced in favor of a skull. The blue and white color scheme works perfectly, bringing together this unique look.

These are some of the best skins available for Bloodhound right now. But there are always new skins being released in th

Apex Legends Honor System idea would reward good teammates

Borrowing from the likes of CS:GO and Overwatch, an Apex Legends ‘Honor System’ would allow you to reward good teammates while solving one of the game’s biggest issues.https://imasdk.googleapis.com/js/core/bridge3.392.0_en.html#goog_1718393756Volume 0%

Trolls and toxic teammates in multiplayer gaming are seemingly unavoidable. While there are occasions where leaving a match prematurely simply can’t be helped, players often take an early exit out of spite — leaving their teammates to fight a losing battle.

The story is no different in Apex Legends, where one player pulling the cord early or behaving poorly can spell disaster for the outcome of a squad’s match. Not to mention griefing, refusing to revive, or just generally being a bad sport.

Toxic behavior from one teammate can ruin the experience for the whole squad.

Turning to other games (such as CS:GO and Overwatch) for inspiration, ‘iAmCalli’ devised an ‘Honor System’ which would actively promote better behavior inside the server.

Essentially, you’d have the ability to ‘bless’ your allies for recognizing their efforts as a good teammate. As a result, players can progress through tiers — with each tier progression providing more coveted rewards.

Leaving matches early would result in Honor Points being revoked from players, with connection issues being the only exception to the rule.

Apex Legends Honor System.
iAmCalli (Reddit)

The Honor System shares a similar blueprint to the Commend System in CS:GO.

To ensure players don’t ‘game the system’ and boost their friends, they would be capped to three blessings per day when partying up with premade squads.

Alongside the rewards available for your corresponding tier, you’d have a badge to sport in the pre-game lobbies — signaling the type of teammate that you are to your squadmates.

A system like this could also be introduced as a variable when queueing for a match, whereby players with a better Honor rating would be more likely to find players of a similar caliber.

Apex Legends Honor System concept.
iAmCalli (Reddit)

With five tiers to progress through, the system could be used to match equally respected teammates with one another.

While the Honor System concept wouldn’t completely squash toxicity in the Apex Games, it would certainly be a step in the right direction.

Another player had a suggestion to simply introduce a points system for good behavior, where you could rank up and earn rewards. It’s clear there is a desire from players to see Respawn introduce some kind of incentives for playing the game how it should be played.

Hidden Apex Legends lore shows a message from Crypto’s foster sister, Mila

Crypto can use his drone to reveal a hidden message from his foster sister, Mila, who the community believed was dead until the Lost Treasures event trailer showed her reaching out to Crypto.https://platform.twitter.com/embed/index.html?creatorScreenName=ggpedroperes&dnt=true&embedId=twitter-widget-0&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1278013619666632704&lang=en&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fdotesports.com%2Fapex-legends%2Fnews%2Fhidden-apex-legends-lore-shows-a-message-from-cryptos-foster-sister-mila&theme=light&widgetsVersion=9066bb2%3A1593540614199&width=550px

The message is hidden in the loot bunker near Bridges, according to data miner Shrugtal. Players must guide Crypto’s drone through the vent systems to find a hidden chamber and decrypt Mila’s transmission. She identifies herself using her nickname, “Mi,” and the in-game subtitles reveal that it’s indeed Mila who’s speaking.

“They, whoever they are, they came to my place,” Mila said. “I got away. But they caught up with me. I thought they were going to kill me. I thought they killed you.”javascript:”<html><body style=’background:transparent’></body></html>”Report Advertisement

After decoding the message, the monitor screen shows that it’s loading one message out of three, which may mean that the rest of the loot bunkers also house similar transmissions. It’s not the end of Crypto’s lore, though, and Respawn may have bigger plans for him in the future.

Mila Alexander is Crypto’s foster sister and a significant part of his origin story. They were orphans who chose computer engineering as a career path to escape from the dark prospects and landed a job designing drones for the Syndicate. They stumbled into a Syndicate bet-rigging scheme and Mila went missing—and was presumed dead. The Syndicate got to her and framed Crypto, forcing him to give up his old identity of Tae Joon Park.

Crypto decided to seek justice for Mila. He hacked his way into the Apex Games as part of his plan to take down the Syndicate. Caustic mentioned Crypto’s resentment with the organization in the seventh chapter of The Broken Ghost, Apex‘s season quest.

Mila’s false demise opens up plenty of storytelling opportunities involving Crypto, which could include several hidden messages scattered across Kings Canyon before the Lost Treasures event kicked off.

Titanfall 2 arriving on Steam is perfect time to try Apex Legends prequel

Titanfall 2 has finally arrived on Steam nearly four years after Respawn’s Titan-based FPS franchise sequel was first released, and it’s sparking a renaissance for the cult classic — it’s time to give the Apex Legends ‘prequel’ a shot.https://imasdk.googleapis.com/js/core/bridge3.392.0_en.html#goog_1655200652Volume 0%

Before the Loba and Revenant, the Apex Games, and Kings Canyon, there was the Outlands, and Titans. Pilots darted across walls, and claimed kills with the Smart Pistol MK6, and the R-201. It was a fledgling FPS franchise that dreamed of rivaling mainstay titles like Call of Duty, and Battlefield, and many thought it could.

Only, release timing punted Titanfall 2 right into the realms of a ‘cult classic’ before it even had a chance to spread its wings. EA put it up against Battlefield 1 and Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and it failed to meet every sales metric the publisher marked it on.

After the breath of fresh air that many had dubbed the first Titanfall game, to see the sequel fall at the final hurdle was heartbreaking for fans. Many would eventually make their way to Apex after the battle royale was released in 2019.

Four years later, Titanfall 2 may finally be having its time in the sun: the 2016 game has been released on Steam, and it’s already smashing its old player numbers — it’s well and truly time for Apex fans to give the Respawn title a crack.

Two Titans battle in the Respawn title Titanfall 2.

The Titan-heavy Titanfall series paved the way for the hugely-success Apex Legends. The battle royale is now deep in its fifth season since release.

Now, let’s not beat around the bush. Titanfall 2 isn’t blowing any kind of Steam records after its arrival on the platform. Just under 10,000 players logged into the Respawn shooter on June 21, according to Valve. Compared to its old console count, however, that’s huge.

The title — which is currently selling with a 67% discount to celebrate its relaunch — is on top of the best-sellers charts at the moment though. It’s ahead of a discounted Skyrim, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, Dark Souls III, and more.

“It’s so great to see Titanfall 2 getting so many new players! Welcome to all the new pilots!” Respawn animator Moy Parra said of the Steam release. He added soon after “it’s fine [to dive into the sequel] if you haven’t played the first one.”https://platform.twitter.com/embed/index.html?creatorScreenName=Dexerto&dnt=false&embedId=twitter-widget-0&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1274474083355209728&lang=en&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dexerto.com%2Fapex-legends%2Ftitanfall-2-arrives-steam-perfect-time-try-apex-legends-prequel-1382759&siteScreenName=Dexerto&theme=light&widgetsVersion=9066bb2%3A1593540614199&width=550px

Titanfall 2 tells the story of Jack Cooper, a militia rifleman who becomes a Titan pilot after the death of his mentor Captain Tai Lastimosa at the hands of mercenary leader Kuben Blisk — who may just be the next Legend in Apex Legends.

Basically, Apex Legends players are running out of excuses to go a little ‘old school’. It’s time to return to the game that inspired the now hugely popular battle royale. You’ll see guns and weapons you recognize, enemies that have carried over, and even a few Pathfinder-like characters too!

There might be a few familiar faces in the Titanfall campaign for dedicated Apex Legends fans.

With Steam’s launch discount, Titanfall 2: Ultimate Edition is currently selling at $9.89 USD, or ~£8 GBP. For Australians, that’s $13.18 AUD. This promotional offer is expected to end by Friday, July 10, so you have a bit of time to decide.

Titanfall 2 is available to purchase through Steam here. While you’re on the browser, make sure you add Apex Legends to your wishlist too. The battle royale should be available on the Valve-owned browser in the next few months.

A fix to the hitbox on Wraith’s new skin is coming “real soon,” according to Apex design director

The bug with Wraith’s hitbox in Apex Legends may be close to an end.

Primis Player Placeholder

Design director Jason McCord said an ultimate fix to the glitch should come “real soon.” Wraith’s latest event skin has a self-generated hitbox that can register hits as a false positive and disabled headshots on her altogether.https://platform.twitter.com/embed/index.html?creatorScreenName=ggpedroperes&dnt=true&embedId=twitter-widget-0&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1277796099978178561&lang=en&origin=https%3A%2F%2Fdotesports.com%2Fapex-legends%2Fnews%2Fhitbox-fix-on-wraiths-new-skin-coming-real-soon-according-to-apex-design-director&theme=light&widgetsVersion=9066bb2%3A1593540614199&width=550px

Fixing the hitbox on the Marble Goddess cosmetic requires two updates: a server-side one that players don’t need to download and a client patch that contains new information. The first adjustment reached the servers on the same day that the Wraith skin was released, but the patch to players’ clients is “coming real soon,” McCord said.

The issues with Wraith started after Respawn missed an entry in the model settings, which removed the cosmetic’s hitbox, according to McCord. The game autogenerated a rectangular hitbox that doesn’t match the character. “We should have caught this in testing,” McCord said. “That’s on us 100000%.”javascript:”<html><body style=’background:transparent’></body></html>”Report Advertisement

Respawn pushed a server-side fix on the same day that the skin was released. It mitigated some issues, such as the removal of the headshot hitbox. But since the client and the server are out of sync, players started getting no-registration issues where shots appear to land but don’t cause any damage.

“This means you actually MISSED the real hitbox, and hit the old bad one. And the server knows it,” McCord said. “So, at the very least, if you’ve been getting no-reg on Wraith, you’ve been actually missing those shots.”

McCord also said Respawn could have disabled the cosmetic but chose not to because people paid real money for it. “In hindsight, we probably should have done that,” he said.

The Marble Goddess cosmetic is a part of the Lost Treasures collection event, which kicked off last week. It added a series of cosmetics with a treasure hunter theme, such as Wattson’s Outlands Explorer and Revenant’s Relic of Death skins.

The Broken Ghost: The seventh chapter of Apex Legends’ quest is live

Apex Legends‘ season quest is coming close to an end. The seventh part of The Broken Ghost is live—and based on how the story is developing, tragedy could come with it.

Primis Player Placeholder

As usual, this week brings a new hunt and a new story chapter. The sixth hunt, Return to Skull Town, gives players a highly-anticipated return to one of the most popular locations in Kings Canyon, while the story chapter discusses how the legends are trying to assemble the Broken Ghost.

In the previous chapter, The Oblivious Mole, someone hacked into Crypto’s drone (aptly named Hack) and let Revenant control it. The simulacrum used it to threaten the legends and Loba in particular. Bangalore accuses Crypto of being the mole and the former Syndicate engineer faces the distrust of his peers.

The real snitch, however, has been hiding from the legends since the prologue, The Duplicitous Snake. Revenant’s so-called “little friend” tipped the simulacrum off to the legends’ plan and odds are that the mole will continue to get in the way until their identity is exposed.javascript:”<html><body style=’background:transparent’></body></html>”Report Advertisement

Bangalore revealed that Loba, who assembled the legends, was working alongside Hammond Robotics to build the artifact in exchange for Revenant’s “source code.” But the crew has decided to build the artifact on their own and stop Hammond from getting its hands on it.

The story of the Broken Ghost is slowly unraveling, with each new chapter bringing unique developments to the narrative. The artifact has started taking shape, too, and it looks close enough to a robotic head, which means whatever the legends are building could be sentient.
